IBM S812LC  Server improves performance, reduces Spark & Hadoop workload costs


Big data servers from IBM deliver superior performance and throughput for Spark and Hadoop workloads on Linux.

Three server models are available –

  • Essential,
  • Value, and 
  • High performance.

OS Support
Ubuntu 14.04.3 & 15.04 is supported – http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server/power8
Redhat 7.2 is supported.
The BIOS is feature rich with IPMI and PXE support.
Storage
IBM S812LC server models contain 2x 3.5″ rear drives. The 12x front drive bays can be populated based on storage requirements.
Storage Adapter
Server models contain an onboard drive controller for the rear drives. Three storage adapter are available to support drives installed in the front drive bay. The Adaptec 71605 RAID adapter, an Adaptec series 8 adapter and LSI 8316-8i adapter.
Memory
Server models contain 32MB, 256MB or 512MB of memory. Additional memory DIMM slots can be populated up to 1TB total memory
Network
Servers models support 1 Gb and 10 Gb ethernet via a 10GBase-T Mezz card (Tyan MP012-B840-4T and Qlogic 10GbE 4-port LAN adapter). Additional network adapters such as Mellanox are supported
